Solar Energy UK is proud to announce that Stephen Wilding, who has extensive experience in the energy sector and membership organisations, has joined us as Director of Business Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His appointment comes at an exciting time for the association and the solar sector in general. Solar Energy UK is rapidly acquiring new memberships, with 73 new members in the past year, as the industry gears up to reach the target of 70 gigawatts of generation capacity by 2035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen was most recently Membership and Affiliate Manager for the Rail Safety and Standards Board, which works with the rail industry to improve health and safety performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before that, he was responsible for business development at the Energy Industries Council for nine years and head of offshore marine events for publisher Seatrade Communications Ltd. Earlier business roles were in the oil, cement, pharmaceutical and investment sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work, Stephen coaches rugby union for Woodbridge RFC in Suffolk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On joining Solar Energy UK, Stepehen said: \u201cI am delighted by the welcome I have had from my new colleagues. I look forward to learning more about the burgeoning solar sector, meeting our members and growing the association\u2019s membership even further.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He brings some excellent experience from across the energy sector and will help us further grow our membership and develop the services we can offer,\u201d said Solar Energy UK Chief Executive Chris Hewett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a related move and reflecting his efforts for the association over the past two years, former Business Development Manager Sturge Mazzocchi now promoted to Head of Partnerships & Business Development said: \u201cAs we embark upon one of the most ambitious of missions toward the UK achieving net zero, I’ve worked relentlessly to help drive the industry forward, side-by-side with my colleagues and our member businesses. In this new capacity, I endeavour to accelerate future programmes and initiatives that make real impact for Solar Energy UK and our partners, catalysing the industrial change urgently needed to prevent the damage being caused by climate change.
